IN2FAB Technology Joins GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ FDXcelerator™ Partner Program for Analog and Mixed Signal Design Migration

Circuit migration technology delivers migration of IP from bulk-silicon to FD-SOI technology in a fraction of the time taken for redesign.

IN2FAB announced the opening of a new North American office to support and expand its existing business. The centre will operate in conjunction with the company's existing facilities in Europe to provide a base for expanded operations. Located in the New England semiconductor region, the new center will concentrate on providing technology that solves the complex problem of migrating semiconductor IP between foundries and processes.

IN2FAB Technology announced today that it has joined the GLOBALFOUNDRIES (“GF”) FDXcelerator™ Partner Program to enable IP transfer from outside processes to the 22nm FD-SOI platform.  IN2FAB’s migration tools and services allow fabless companies and IP vendors to adapt their existing products to meet the requirements of GF’s 22FDX® technology and get to market in a fraction of the time required for a redesign.

IN2FAB has enhanced its OSIRIS design tools to produce a flow that transfers the schematic, test bench and layout data from bulk silicon processes to FD-SOI.  The source circuits can come from other GF processes or from designs that were originally made by third-party foundries.  The migration flow uses components from the GF process design kit (PDK) in both schematic and layout translation, ensuring the resulting database contains components and models that are completely foundry compliant.

Design migration allows existing IP databases that were built for other processes to be adjusted and adapted to meet the requirements of a new manufacturer.  By maintaining the topology and hierarchy of the original circuit, engineers can concentrate on making adjustments to established data rather than starting again from scratch.  This saves both time and money and opens up new opportunities for IP vendors to bring their products to a wider market.

Timothy Regan, IN2FAB’s president said: “we are very happy to extend our existing partnership with GF and work together on the 22FDX platform.  The GF FD-SOI processes are ideal for many emerging markets as they allow designers to tune their products to take advantage of the excellent performance and power management capabilities it offers.  Design migration is an ideal way for IP vendors and fabless companies to accelerate their move to 22FDX and we are looking forward to working with them to migrate their products to this exciting technology.”
